Terms and Conditions
These terms set out the rules for using salikfoundation.com (the "site"). They are written in plain English so that donors, people asking for a Qur'an and other visitors can understand them. Please read them before using the site, emailing us for a free Qur'an or making a donation.
Accepting these terms
By visiting the site, or by donating through our Zeffy links or the Zeffy donation form that opens in a pop-up on the site, you agree to these terms. The site's only form of its own is the volunteer sign-up form, which collects only what you choose to send us; otherwise the site collects no personal information from you. If you would like a free Qur'an, you simply email us, and that email travels from your own email account to our inbox. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the site.

Salik Foundation is a registered Canadian charity (registration number 777416629RR0001). Our office is at 13750 100th Avenue, Unit #2010, Surrey, BC V3T 0L3, Canada. We print and freely distribute the Qur'an to non-Muslims, new Muslims and seekers across Canada, the United States and abroad.

Using the site
You may browse the site, share links to it, email us to ask for a free Qur'an and donate through the links we provide. In return, we ask you to use the site honestly and lawfully. We may decline a request, or stop replying, if someone does not. You must not:
- Scrape, harvest or bulk-download the site's content, photographs or data, whether by hand or with automated tools.
- Send us false, misleading or repeated Qur'an requests or volunteer sign-ups, or use our email address for anything other than a genuine enquiry.
- Send spam, malicious code or anything unlawful to our email address.
- Interfere with the site, the server programs behind it or other visitors' use of it.
- Copy or reuse the site's design, text, photographs or logos without our written permission.
The free Qur'an programme
To ask for a free copy of the Qur'an, email us at info@salikfoundation.com. The button on the site opens your own email application with a suggested subject line and a list of the details to include, such as your name and mailing address. You write and send the email yourself, so your details go straight from your email account to our inbox and never pass through the site.
We offer free copies of the Qur'an at our discretion and as our supply allows. Emailing us does not create a contract or a guarantee that a copy will be sent. We may decline, limit or verify any request, for example by limiting requests to one copy per person or household, or by replying to confirm your details.
We do our best to send copies promptly, but we cannot guarantee delivery times. A request may be delayed or not fulfilled where supply, cost or postal service makes it impractical.
Please only ask for a copy for yourself or for someone who genuinely wants one, and give us an accurate name and mailing address so we can reach you. We use the details in your email only to send your Qur'an and to reply to you. We do not sell them or pass them to anyone else, and your email sits in our Google (Gmail) account as ordinary correspondence for as long as it is reasonably needed. Copies are provided free of charge and must not be resold.
Donations
Donations are voluntary gifts to a registered Canadian charity. All donations are processed by Zeffy, a Canadian donation platform, either on Zeffy's website or in a Zeffy form that opens in a pop-up on our site. When you donate, you are also agreeing to Zeffy's own terms and privacy policy. Our site never receives or stores your card details, name or donation amount.
If you click one of our suggested amounts, that amount is simply pre-filled in Zeffy's form, and you can change it there before you give.
Zeffy issues official Canadian donation tax receipts on our behalf, in line with Canada Revenue Agency rules. Because donations are gifts to a registered charity, they are generally not refundable. If you believe a donation was made in error or for the wrong amount, please contact us at info@salikfoundation.com as soon as possible. We will look into it with Zeffy, and any correction must follow Canada Revenue Agency rules.
Content and intellectual property
The text, design, photographs and logos on the site belong to Salik Foundation or to the people who have licensed them to us. You may view the site and share links to it, but you may not reproduce, distribute or modify its content without our written permission.
We do not claim any ownership of the Qur'an itself. Our mission is to share it freely, and nothing in these terms restricts your reading, sharing or use of the Qur'an, other than our request that free copies not be resold.
Photographs on the site show our community events and Qur'an distributions. If you appear in a photograph and would like it removed, please write to us at info@salikfoundation.com.
Links and embedded content
The site embeds Zeffy's donation form and YouTube's video player, and links to our Instagram profile and posts. It also loads fonts from Google Fonts, video thumbnails from YouTube (i.ytimg.com) and animation code from cdnjs.cloudflare.com and unpkg.com, and it is hosted on Cloudflare. Those services receive your IP address and browser details as an ordinary part of loading the page, and some may set their own cookies — YouTube and Google when you play a video, and Instagram if you follow a link there. Each has its own terms and privacy policy, which apply when you interact with them. We are not responsible for their content or practices, and a link does not mean we endorse a site. Our Privacy Policy lists these services in full.
No warranties
The site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties or promises about the site, including that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure or fit for a particular purpose. We may change, suspend or remove any part of the site at any time.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Salik Foundation and its directors, volunteers and staff are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site, the donation links or any third-party service linked from the site. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under the laws of British Columbia or Canada.
Your privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. In short, the only personal information the site itself collects is what you send through the volunteer sign-up form, which goes to the charity's own Google Sheet so we can organise volunteering with you. The site sets no cookies of its own, uses no analytics or advertising trackers and stores nothing in your browser. Zeffy's donation form is run by Zeffy and sends your details to Zeffy rather than to us. Anything you send us by email arrives in our Google (Gmail) account and is kept as ordinary business correspondence for as long as it is reasonably needed. The Privacy Policy also lists the third-party services the site loads, and sets out your rights under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Our Privacy Officer can be reached at info@salikfoundation.com. If you are not satisfied with our answer to a privacy question or complaint, you may take it to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms and the site from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version here with a new effective date at the top. Your continued use of the site after that date means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute about these terms or the site will be dealt with by the courts of British Columbia, and you agree to their jurisdiction.
